Natural Bridge Caverns
Natural Bridge Caverns offers an easy way to tour breathtaking caves, whether or not you have prior caving experience.
Offering plenty of activities both underground and on the surface, this family-owned and operated attraction is non-stop fun.
Belowground, you’ll find huge, awe-inspiring formations, formed over time by drops of water. In fact, these formations are still developing today! I guarantee they are like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
On the surface you’ll find climbing activities, shopping and dining locations, and so much more!
The fun is never-ending, and at the center of it all are the incredible caverns in the heart of the earth.
These caverns were discovered in March of 1960 by four college students from St. Mary’s University: Orion Knox Jr., Preston Knodell, Al Brandt and Joe Cantu. These four men got permission from the Wuest family, cattle ranchers in the area, to explore a cave on their property, convinced that it connected to underground caves and passages.
It was Orion who felt a breeze from a rubble-filled passageway, indicating that it might lead somewhere promising. Since Knox was the smallest, they asked him to crawl through. When Knox found the spectacular caverns on the other side, he immediately told the others, “Hey, we may have something here.”
The vast caverns and passages contained beautiful unearthly formations including stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws and flowstones. It was so phenomenal that the landowners decided to develop the first half mile so that people all over the world could come see it.
Today, this half-mile of beauty is the Discovery Tour, lit by LED lights and one of the most popular attractions in all of Texas. Guests can comfortably walk through it, guided by a knowledgeable tour guide.
You won’t want to miss out on this one!
If you want a more robust experience, Natural Bridge Caverns also offers the Discovery Adventure Tour. An experienced guide will lead you beyond the standard Discovery Tour, into the heart of the caves, crawling through passages and climbing a steep, mud-covered hill to see awe-inspiring undeveloped cavern rooms. All the gear you’ll need is offered as part of the tour.
Natural Bridge Caverns also offers a number of customizable VIP tour experiences. Are you a photographer? Book a photography tour! Planning a special event? Contact Natural Bridge Caverns about hosting it in a cave. I promise it will be an experience event-goers will never forget!
Although the primary attractions of Natural Bridge Canyons are underground, they offer many fun above-ground experiences as well, including:

And once you’ve worked up an appetite from all that fun, stop by Big Daddy's Sweets, Treats and Brew for a hearty snack. Or, if you’re hungry for a full meal, head to the Cavern Café for pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, and more!
